Janice is effervescent, warm and a lot of fun. A down-to-earth Hamiltonian she has come full circle, via London and Sydney to lay down her own family roots here in the Waikato. Back in her home-town she thinks Hamilton is the perfect place to bring up a young family; safe but connected, accessible yet evolving.
Janice was a seamstress for one season of the Royal NZ Ballet Company’s production of Romeo & Juliet and subsequently was accepted into the London College of Fashion Costume Design degree course. Financial circumstances thwarted the dream and she became a Business Class flight attendant with Qantas which brought her all over the world.
Harbouring a burning desire to get back into the rag trade, she filled her creative tank by enrolling on numerous short courses at the London College of Fashion on her down time from travelling. Millinery, styling, fashion buying and merchandising she has clocked up on her resume and on her credit card bill stunning pieces from Rome, Paris, New York, Melbourne and LA!
Janice can entertain you with amusing anecdotes from her experience hosting in First Class. She has attended to the rich and famous, rock and sporting royalty. She is the consummate hostess – personable, discreet and responsive. Stevie Wonder found her so amusing he gave her a shout out at a couple of his Australian concerts.
A mutual appreciation was formed by the Style Counsel (Pauline & Janice) across the busy kindergarten grounds, both for each other and their sartorial choices! Janice clocked eyes on a glistening piece of statement jewellery sitting on Pauline’s thin-knit bronze sweater and thought ‘she looks interesting’! A firm friendship was formed. This also reignited something that had laid dormant in Janice for a while.
After listening to Pauline’s passion for fashion and styling Janice had no hesitation in suggesting they form a business partnership. The seeds were sown. Janice could finally realise her ambition and put all she had learned into practice. The dynamic duo completed a Colour me Beautiful style/line and colour course and are uber excited about the possibilities in the Waikato and beyond
Janice likes classic, polished pieces – refined separates for the perfect balance of laid-back elegance and luxe. Since her husband went back to full-time education she has become pretty resourceful at dressing with style on a low budget.
She is also a dab hand at customising existing clothes to make them fit better for a particular body shape, adding different buttons to make a look more current or altering hems to make a garment sit better on a silhouette. An Irish native married to a Croatian/Kiwi she left the bright lights of celebville Hampstead, London so her husband could manage the family farm in the rural Waikato. London’s loss – Hamilton’s gain! Six years later, three kids on, the time is right for her and her business partner Janice to unleash themselves to the willing Waikato masses and make women feel really good about themselves.
“You’ve changed my life”; “I feel like a new woman!”, “You so know what you are talking about.” are just some of the comments directed to her at a recent style lounge. Trained in colour analysis, body shape analysis and wardrobe coordination she knows the science behind the magic.

Pauline has a degree in Media Practices/Marketing and later went to the very prestigious London College of Fashion and studied Fashion PR & Promotional Skills. She is also an accredited copywriter.
She has worked in ad agencies across various business sectors in a PR/Marketing/Business development capacity in the UK, Ireland and New Zealand. From interviewing fashion designers, to Hollywood film directors to writing copy for blogs and social media, there isn’t much she hasn’t done in the communications arena – the desire to be an image consultant/stylist was always there.
Her insatiable desire for fashion blogs, magazines and professional development ensures that she is current, knowledgeable and credible. She has been fortunate to have met and worked with some of the most accomplished personal stylists in New Zealand and is motivated about translating this knowledge into practice closer to home.
Her motto is : Life is short – buy the shoes. And she has got an impressive collection. She has travelled extensively, highlights being a charity bike ride up the Himalayas – from Delhi to Nepal and getting married in the Wine Academy of Rome. Her great loves are: (apart from her other half and 3 kids) mountain-biking, a glass of Central Otago Pinot Noir, decadent chocolate and good comedy.
She understands the corporate wardrobe, the after-baby wardrobe and the urban/rural run-around capsule having experienced all three phases of life.
